Anker SOLIX F3800 Time of Use: NV Energy TOU Savings

2026-11-04 · Sun Solvers

Short answer: With the Anker SOLIX Home Power Panel, an F3800 can charge when power is cheap and run your backup circuits during the peak. On NV Energy's optional TOU plan in Southern Nevada, the peak is 6:01 to 9:00 PM daily, June through September only. Anker caps one grid-connected F3800 at about 1.92kW, so best case is roughly $1.35 a summer day (NV Energy, Anker; calculation).

Many Las Vegas owners buy an F3800 for outages, then ask whether it can also lower the power bill. It can, but only with the Home Power Panel, only on a time-of-use plan, and mostly in summer. This guide walks through how Anker's time-of-use (TOU) mode behaves, how to set it up for NV Energy's schedule, and the honest math for one F3800.

Why time of use matters in Las Vegas

On NV Energy's standard single-family plan, every kilowatt-hour costs the same. The Optional Residential Single-Family Time-of-Use plan (ORS-TOU) prices power by the clock. NV Energy's October 1, 2026 residential rate sheet for Southern Nevada lists these energy prices for ORS-TOU (before riders, fees and taxes):

That evening gap is what a battery can work with. In winter there is a single price all day, so shifting energy saves nothing from October through May.

Two plan details matter before you switch. NV Energy's ORS-TOU tariff requires a one-year minimum term. The rate sheet also describes a Time-of-Use Guarantee: after your first year, NV Energy compares what you paid on TOU with what the same usage would have cost on the standard plan, and credits the difference if TOU cost more.

How F3800 time-of-use mode works

Anker's support articles describe four TOU periods you assign in the Anker app:

Anker recommends using Super Off-Peak rather than Off-Peak for your cheap hours. If you label them Off-Peak, the F3800 drains to 80% before the peak even starts.

The F3800 powers the circuits in the Home Power Panel's Backup Load Center, which supports up to 12 circuits. Anker limits discharge while the grid is up to protect the battery: about 1.92kW for one F3800 and about 3.8kW for two. During an outage, the same F3800 can deliver up to 6kW through the panel.

How to set up F3800 TOU for NV Energy in 6 steps

  1. Confirm the hardware. Anker documents TOU mode as a Home Power Panel feature. A transfer switch or inlet box is a manual backup connection, not a scheduled one. Our guide to connecting an F3800 to your home compares the three paths. The panel install is a job for a licensed electrician.
  2. Check your rate plan. Look at your NV Energy bill. If you are on the standard RS plan, TOU mode has no price gap to use. Weigh the one-year minimum term before enrolling in ORS-TOU.
  3. Pick the circuits. Put the loads you run from 6 to 9 PM in summer, such as lighting, the fridge and entertainment, in the Backup Load Center. Keep them within 25A for one F3800, per Anker.
  4. Set your periods in the Anker app. Choose TOU mode. For June through September, set 6:01 to 9:00 PM as Peak and set overnight hours as Super Off-Peak. The Home Power Panel guide lets you set different periods for weekdays, weekends and seasons.
  5. Set a reserve. The reserve is the share of charge TOU mode will not touch. Keep enough for an outage. Our post on reserve settings explains the trade-off.
  6. Review after a few weeks. Compare your NV Energy usage by time of day with what the app shows, and adjust the circuits or reserve.

F3800 battery capacity 3,840Wh Spec Sun Solvers F3800 vs F3800 Plus page
Most one F3800 could deliver in the 3-hour peak 1.92kW × 3h = 5.76kWh, so the 3,840Wh battery is the limit Calculation Figures above
Usable AC energy from a full F3800 3,840Wh × 90% ≈ 3.46kWh Calculation Anker support runtime formula (80-90% AC efficiency)
Best-case savings per summer day 3.46kWh × $0.46912 − 3.84kWh × $0.07062 ≈ $1.35 Calculation Prices above; ignores reserve, charging losses, riders and taxes
Best-case savings per summer (122 days) 122 × $1.35 ≈ $165 Calculation Assumes a full cycle every day and peak loads of at least 1.15kW

Real savings will be lower. A reserve for outages keeps part of the battery out of the cycle, charging takes more than 3.84kWh from the wall, and your backup circuits may not draw that much between 6 and 9 PM. Treat TOU savings as a bonus on top of backup power, not the reason to buy.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Anker SOLIX F3800 have a time-of-use mode?

Yes, when it is connected to the Anker SOLIX Home Power Panel. You set Super Off-Peak, Off-Peak, Mid-Peak and Peak periods in the Anker app, and the F3800 charges or discharges by period.

Why is my F3800 only putting out 1.9kW with the Home Power Panel?

Anker limits discharge while the grid is connected to preserve battery life. One F3800 delivers about 1.92kW to loads and two deliver about 3.8kW. In an outage, one F3800 can supply up to 6kW through the panel.

What are NV Energy's time-of-use peak hours?

For Southern Nevada's optional residential TOU plan, on-peak is 6:01 to 9:00 PM daily from June 1 to September 30. All other summer hours are off-peak, and October through May has one price for all hours.

How much can one F3800 save on NV Energy TOU?

Best case is about $1.35 per summer day, or roughly $165 over the June to September season, based on the October 2026 energy prices and Anker's 1.92kW limit. Reserve settings, charging losses and lighter evening loads lower that figure.

Should I use Super Off-Peak or Off-Peak for my cheap hours?

Super Off-Peak. Anker recommends it because the F3800 only charges in that period. In Off-Peak, a grid-only setup discharges to 80% before the peak starts.
